In this blog, I want to write about all the other random things that are taking up space in my brain.

Most likely, whatever the most recent rabbit hole I fall down is...

That thing is different for each of us, but there's a common string that connects them all. My thing is writing about a subject extremely important to me, but another person's thing could be painting, sewing projects, or creating music. Maybe yet another person's thing isn't so traditionally creative as producing art or creating a tangible object; maybe this person's thing is coding or programming.

I'm not a hoarder (not typically, anyway.) My mom was a hoarder, and when I left my childhood home, I SWORE I would never be the same. So, and now, as an adult, I'm QUICK to throw out anything that isn't actually useful (or something that actually brings me joy, as Marie Kondo would put it). But if I'm being really real with myself...I wasn't able to fully avoid the hoarding gene; it just manifested in a not-so-obvious way: digitally. I obsess over my Zettelkasten and feel intense satisfaction w...

It's amazing how imposter syndrome will still continue to rear its ugly head no matter how many times I encounter it: in therapy, in journaling, accepting it head-on, or trying to run away from it. What I do after each encounter with imposter syndrome may fluctuate each time, but it still visits me like a regular unwelcome guest. I will say, though, that if I choose a more responsible way of dealing with it, like journaling about it or talking with a therapist about it, then the length of stay a...

Previously, I only snuck in an hour of writing maybe once a week, if I were lucky. I'd write on a weekday, after dinner, when my spouse was playing video games, thinking, Well, this would be a good time to! But otherwise, I'd spend most of the week upset with myself for not writing consistently. And for what? I don't publish that often (at least on my Substack), and my readership isn't huge, so it's not like there are people sitting at the edge of their seats for the next article I write. Even w...

CW: I talk about my weight and measurements (such as height and weight). If weight topics are sensitive, please take care while reading. 🧡 I was never athletic before a few years ago, and didn't take fitness seriously until two months ago. In high school, I never played sports because 1) I was poor, so I couldn't afford any gear or fees (my mom and I didn't have a vehicle either, so transportation to games wasn't an option), and 2) sports were for popular girls, of which I absolutely was not one...
